Lexis was a member of the same family who played golf and would be familiar with the sport. In 2007, she was the youngest golfer who qualified to compete in the US Women's Open. While she did not win, in 2007 she won the Aldila Junior Classic and became the second. she was the most youthful American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) athlete to take home the championship, in addition to being the winner of the Westfield Junior PGA Championship as the youngest player to do this at the time.
